Pastor's Corner - July 2006

Angela Jones

Hello to All. I send my greetings and my love. With July ushering in our summer season, we look forward to celebrating Independence Day with fireworks, cookouts, and family get-togethers, frolicking on sunny beaches and walking in the cool of the evening. We also look forward to partaking of all the delicious fruits and vegetables, especially tomatoes! There is nothing like a vine-ripened tomato! We have a small garden and have access to some fresh market produce. It is one of my favorite times of the year- enjoying all God's blessed bounty.

I am Angela Jones, and I became a minister of the Fellowship of the Inner Light in April of 2005. When Thomas Keller was Pastor of this church in the early 90’s for five years, this officially became my church. I was brought up strict Catholic in New York where I attended Catholic grammar school and Catholic High School. I moved to Virginia and came into a new understanding and was able to release the bonds of the Catholic Church.

I felt free to explore the different churches, at one time forbidden to me under pain of "mortal sin". But, when I heard Thomas Keller speak, I had no desire to go to any other church. I would look forward to his sermons on Sunday, and his words would carry me through the week until I could hear him again the following Sunday.

I have many of Thomas’ tapes, and he continues to teach me. He has recently passed over, and I know he will always be with us in spirit, guiding and teaching us in an even greater way. Thank you, Thomas Keller for being a blessing to all of us.

I am interested in all aspects of healing, and I take part in our Thursday night Healing group as well as our healing service on Sunday, which we have about four times a year. I feel, and those who are committed with me feel, it is the most important thing we do all week-to pray for all the needs. We have a Prayer Bowl with special slips of paper with the prayer requests from our congregation, and we say each name. We pray for the whole world, and we light candles for all the places and people that come to our minds and are close to our hearts.

We sing and meditate together and we read something inspirational. We have hands on healing. When the service is over, we feel as if we could almost float home!

I would like to leave you now with this prayer by Joyce Gedeon:

Eternal Love in this Moment

In this moment, eternal love wipes the tears of the past from your grief-filled eyes.

In this moment, eternal love sings a lullaby in the midst of chaos.

In this moment, eternal love whispers timeless wisdom, clearing the clouds of illusion from the mind of the universal soul.

In this moment eternal love embraces the soul, cradling all in the heart of the One.

In this moment, eternal love opens the doorway to a future free of fear, lack, and separation.

In this moment, Eternal Love reflects the Divine Light of boundless Creation.

In this moment, as in all moments, Eternal Love is the embodiment of the one heart beating through all creation.

In this moment, be at peace, be at one, be Eternal Love.

Angela Jones
